One True heart

We are coming up on "the month of love" again and what better way to celebrate than creating a Part 2 blog of Heart-related quotes? Last year's post was published in February 2024 with only a fraction of the beloved quotes amassed. I had wanted to include many more favs and realized that there could be a part 2. Alas, the quotes continue to reveal themselves, so the solution is to dedicate a blog annually. Most of these quotes come from cherished books related to heart-centered spirituality and life. It is still a surprise and a delight that there are so many teachings from the heart. I am continuously uncovering the vastness of the heart and discovering its capacity for healing that has been with us since the beginning of civilization. The heart's value and depth crosses all spectrums and philosophies with our heart's endearing and enduring qualities becoming timeless, so here are a few quotes from ancient texts dating back thousands of years.

"The little space within the heart is as great as the vast universe." - Upanishads.

"God refuses to be known by the intellect. God only allows himself to be loved by the heart." - New Testament.

"I will put my Torah in their minds and write it on their hearts." -  Torah.

"Those who believe in the oneness of Allah - (Islamic monotheism) and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily do hearts find rest." - Quran.

"If you want to know me look inside your heart." - Dao De Ching.

"Beauty doesn’t last forever, but a beautiful heart does.”-  Agamas.

"One need not scale the heights of the heavens, nor travel along the highways of the world to find Ahura Mazda. With purity of mind and holiness of heart one can find him in his one's heart." -  Vesta.

There are many other wisdom traditions and religions that speak about the main qualities inherently connected with the heart: compassion and love. The virtue of compassion is found in the Heart Sutra and those who identify as Pagan honour love by their respect and connection to nature.

Our universal heart-centered focus is essential, especially during these fast-paced and challenging times. Our world is changing at an accelerated rate both technologically and atmospherically. This pace can be overwhelming, and if not embodied we then can lose touch with our feelings and emotions easily. This lack of anchoring can lead to a sense of disconnection from our wholliness and cause us to develop a sense of ourselves as wounded, broken, or fractured. Bodintuit ( BI) can allow us to pause and anchor our emotions and feelings. BI will support us to face any woundedness and the practices will activate our awareness to move into our Heart's biosphere. This pausing or gap in our stream of incessant thinking and re-focusing can help us to create a sense of peace and stillness.

Although there are different views and understandings of brokenness ( woundedness ) they all lead us to a heart that wants us to be healed. Here are some lovely quotes from more recent contemporaries...

"Brokenness and wounding do not occur to break human dignity but to open the heart so God can act." - Sue Monk Kidd.

"These moments remind us that we are not alone in our darkness and that we are not broken. The heart is connected to every heart that has known pain since the beginning of time." -Brene Brown.

"Most of all we have to trust that our scarred hearts do have wings." - Sue Monk Kidd.

"Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken." - Albert Camus.

There are many ways to enter the heart and meditation and prayer are my entrance tickets. I listed some of the ways to connect in last month's blog. This month let's include the importance of nature and the cosmos to support our capacity to connect. These two are integral partners to expand and affirm my connection with the whole. I heard the words Hearts Biosphere while watching the sun appear this week and will share more in an upcoming blog.

Here are some quotes about the efficacy of prayer and meditation.....

"Real prayer comes from the heart and I do believe that when I pray I'm in touch with the divine presence reflected in my heart." Henri Nouwen

"We place ourselves in the postures of the heart, in the stillness that enables us to become aware of what God is doing so that we can gradually say yes to it with our whole being."-

Sue Monk Kidd.

"When you realize that heart and earth are spelled with the same letters, it all starts to make sense. " - Unknown.

“The heart in the chest is not your heart only: it is a microcosmic sun, a cosmos of all possible experiences, that no one can own.” – James Hillman.

"A heart that is ready for anything. When we trust that we are the ocean, we are not afraid of the waves." - Sayadaw U. Pandita.

The fruits of these practices are infinite...

"When we accept our complete belovedness, we stop judging ourselves and other people; as a result, other people begin to feel safe with us. When we open the hospitality of our hearts to the spirit, the spirit frees us to extend hospitality to our fellow human and all God's creation. "- Henri Nouwen.

"Hope for you and me and the journeys we undertake. Hope that we would trust our waiting hearts enough to risk entering them, that we would listen for the Voice that bids us to come to the edge, and that we would welcome the gentle push of God, who is both our wings and the wind that bears them up."- Sue Monk Kidd.

"The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart." - Rumi.

"The beating heart of the universe is holy joy."- Martin Buber.

Heart-centered energetic medicine is a panacea that is needed for me to be able to live with a sense of well-being today. Our present-day connections build on how we will experience the future. Every moment is an opportunity to bring love into my life and the lives of all around me. Dear one I hope we all hear the calling of our hearts both personal and collective and will end with a quote from Gary Zukav.

"The journey into the heart is our future and our only way of creating a future."
